Super Saturday...

Unlike most "Super" Saturdays, ours was not filled with cutesy crafts and soup. Instead, our day was packed with silly ideas, pictures, more pictures, and scary moments.

Knowing that our time was limited after morning errands, we headed over to the "pumpkin patch" *cough * cough* (Whole Foods) and attempted to get some pictures with Emily and the pumpkins before the season was over. All season long she has gotten so excited to see pumpkins. Everywhere we'd go, she would say, "Pa" for Pumpkin. She would even run around the house, pointing to every single pumpkin, and say "Pa" "PA" PA!". (She is definitely grasping the holiday spirit.) Anyhow, while we were there, she wasn't the least bit interested in the pumpkins. All she wanted to do was drive the grocery carts and eat snacks. Not to mention Scott tried really hard to avoid being my "photographers assistant", at a grocery store of all places. Yet, ironically I got what I payed for. Nothing! (Note to self: no matter how cute grocery store displays are, they are not the best places for photo ops!)
So we headed across the street to Lakeside Mall for the big Macy's opening. The store had not opened since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. So they had advertised about the huge event. And we wanted to see what it was all about. Besides all the sales, and people EVERYWHERE, we passed by the lovely local news camera crew and came across this lady. I'm a big fan of her cute products and ideas. However, Scott was not so impressed with "The Ole Jail Bird". But before we headed home, we stopped by a local classic car show and took some pictures for my dad.
However, depression struck once we got home and Scott watched the LSU vs GA game. This season has been bitter/sweet to watch the games. But when LSU loses, no amount of fun activities or ICE CREAM can cheer him up. Needless to say, he had a rough evening.
Due to the game delay, costume failures, and not enough chili, we eventually made it to our ward's Halloween Trunk or Treat party/chili cook-off. We got an insight as to Halloween night will work this year. Emily will take more time looking at people's decorations (mainly ghosts and pumpkins) rather than care about the AMOUNT of candy she gets. Every time she got some candy, she wanted to look at, open it, and eat it. We didn't get very far before she was content with her stash and surroundings.
However when we got home, she was anything but content. After we played peek-a-boo behind the rocking chair, I went to grab her arm to have her come from behind the chair when I felt two pops in her arm. I heard them and she definitely felt them. She started crying and wouldn't move her arm. Scared that I hurt my child on accident, I called Scott over and laid her down on the floor. He started feeling along her clavicle and discovered that her arm was pulled out of socket. I called her doctor and she told me that I should take her to the ER and that accidents like this happen all the time. Luckily Scott popped her shoulder back into place but she screamed with pain whenever we touched her arm. So by 8:30pm we took her to the ER. (Even though Emily and I were playing, this truly was an accident. I was still scared that the doctor and hospital workers would question me about child abuse.) They discovered that her shoulder was now okay but that she had Nurse-Maid's Elbow (aka elbow out of socket). So they showed us how to hold the elbow and bend it to pop it back into place. Within five minutes (of the second try- mind you) she was her happy self again. We knew that she was no longer in pain when she could play peek-a-boo and do the hand signs for "The Wheels on the Bus" and the "Itsy-Bitsy Spider" with a smile. Thankfully she didn't have any fractured bones and within minutes was feeling better again. By the time we got her to bed, the hardest part for her was parting with her Pebbles BONE hair clip and hospital tag bracelet. I know Halloween is supposed to be filled with "scares". But we all would not want to experience another "scare" like that again!

Aimee! What a scary experience!!! With Ashley just breaking her arm at PE and being called by the school nurse to see her only minutes later with her arm swollen and out of joint, I know this scary feeling all too well! It's heartbreaking to see your very own child in pain. I am so glad that sweet Emily is ok (and you too!) She sure is cute, though! Those pumpkin patch photos are awesome! I love all the photo editing you do with those colors! It's so autumn-esque! You are SO talented!

Wow, all that on top of taking 350 pictures at the Trunk or Treat. I'm impressed with all you do. I'm sorry to hear that you and Emily had a "hard thing" to go thru, but so glad to hear she's back to her normal self. We love you guys.

Scary! I'm glad that she's okay, I'm sure it was no fun for you to be so worried about having to take her in. I always worry about stuff like that when my kids get hurt! And I'm impressed that you braved the crowds to meet Martha, now that is dedication!

I ditto Ingrid's praises of your photos. Sorry about the scare, my mom popped my arm out of it's socket a few times when I was really little and I don't remember it at all (my dad had to tell me). So the good news is that Emily will forget it soon if not already! Emily really is such a pretty girl. Very stunning features.
